This calc had the 9-A end approved, thus this would upgrade the Rothé and all CR 2-4 creatures in D&D so yah

I prefer Armor's suggestion on Discord- "At least 9-B, likely 9-A". Also, isn't the Rothe CR 1/4 in 5e?

Volo's Guide to Monsters does list them under Cattle variants on page 208, but doesn't provide an updated CR. Make of that what you will.

Hm, I feel like it'd be safer to go with confirmed CR we have in 3e that being 2 rather then assuming it'd stay 1/4 due to being a cattle variant
But then do we go "9-B, possibly 9-A" or just "9-A"

We absolutely go "At least 9-B, likely 9-A" in this case until we have a more consistent basis for outright 9-A.

Time to use 4e’s Burning Hands yo
Anyways yah that’s fair, how do we word the new justification?
I assume for Rothé it’d be just “... likely 9-A (Via this calc)”, so for the rest it’d be “should be on par/superior to the Rothé” ?

Last edited:
  • Aranea are CR 4 in 3.5e
  • Filchers are CR 3 in 3.5e
  • Modrons obviously vary heavily
  • Dunno about the Flail Snail
  • Dessicator is CR 2 in 3.5e
  • Carcass Eater is CR 1/2 in 3.5e
  • Assassin Bug doesn't have a 3.5e appearance afaik
  • Gnolls: heavily variable, if we're still keeping this to CR 2-4 then base Gnolls and Witherlings don't get it while Pack Lords and Fangs of Yeenoghu do. Honestly Witherlings can probably get their own page tbh but I didn't end up doing so for them.
  • Both 9-B Demonhive keys are CR 2 in 3.5e

Aight so AB and FS won’t get edited since no CR in 3.5e it seems
Anyways we should probs split the editing between several people so it won’t take too long to apply

You may, aye

ye shall edit to pay for your sin of using Beasts in a CRT

The "enraged" thing doesn't like physically amp them up, they are neither a Barbarian nor an anime protagonist. The scan says they are only convinced to act in this way when enraged. So I would argue no, physically they're still comparable to any old CR 2-4.

Okay so outside Centuar page which I'm leaving for Bambu I edited all the agreed upon pages
So Bambu can lock the thread
