A lot of emphasis was put on Gaban this episode, and the anime has shown time and time again that the people behind it have way more knowledge on what events will take place in the future than we do. I feel like he is bound to have a major role in the future.

20 years ago? I agree, Oden would probably defeat even Hybrid Kaido (the form that seems to be his trump card). But current Kaido is another monster, and one i don't see Oden (from 20 years ago) defeating.
Wild Cap. sneak attack or not Oden got 1 shot by base kaido. Kaido didnt even use his hybrid form nor any attack aside boro breath from what we see
