G&W's range is in the ******* so he'd need to get close in order to survive. Though he has two chances to get close.

What can Legend do if G&W gets close and throws his hammer?

Dodge it, enter the breaker state to nullify most of the energy output, or shoot faster. Legend actively avoids close combat though.

If G&W does get close he can probably grapple him with tentacles, and proceed from there but the issue is if he can get close first.

Legend's breaker state turns him into light, so it might be pretty hard to grab him. He's dealt with Echidna (Worm) who can also grab people with her physiology by just not getting near her. What would stop him from just vaporizing the tentacles anyways?

Yeah at this range there is not much that's gonna happen. Legend needs to hit G&W twice with his danmaku lasers and it's over. Meanwhile G&W needs to travel the 100 meters separating them to even get hits in.

Far enough that Legend can outrange but close enough that G&W doesn't drown in lasers.

Although tbh unless Legend spawns right under G&W's hammer, he's still gonna win. It's just fairer then.

Echidna (Worm) is an option if you want but I don't think any of the other worm High 8-Cs have a very fair fight with Game and Watch
