Everybody Wants to Die 2: The M E G A Thread

"... We didn't come here to talk about my fancy tragic backstory and make everyone cry, we came here to investigate your world conquest plans, which you still haven't elaborated on, and you might not have the time for if we keep wasting it on stuff like this."

I continue to keep a rather vague eye on the group and Zephyr's faction through the hound-thing while working on various spells, applying several of the previously mentioned stealth and evasion spells to see if it works.

"I disagree," Zephyr says, in that same easy, confident tone. "Perhaps you didn't come here for that, but trust is a two-way street. I will tell you about the future... if you tell me about your past."

It's evident that he won't bend on this, and Nil's group is now at dangerous risk of returning to the base empty-handed.

"By the by, two of them here seemed to have been upset, or thinking a lot of some others that had talked about this before, doubting the situation as a whole." Izumi relays to Zephyr through their telepathy

"Rather rude at some points to be honest." She says, her eyes closed the whole time as she listened to the conversations

"..."

Nil sighs, and looks around the room. Taking note of the position of everyone around them, making considerations...

"I'm not the one with conquest plans, but... I did want to rule the world, so to speak. There have been plenty of tests like this before, I just followed on the trend. Thing is... That turned back on me. A guy called Puncher McFucker hit me hard enough in the dicc that my powers were entirely removed, and transferred to the group of people I tested. Ichika was one of them."

Cain remembers Nil talking about the events of Die 4 and how it was an experiment.

‘Is Nil really one of the people on that...platform so to speak, that did one of those tests?’ Cain thinks to himself as he listens in on the conversation at hand.

"...So there we have it." Zephyr crosses his arms, putting one leg over the other. He smirks. "Your true identity is that of a fallen god, responsible for the same type of neglect and suffering inflicted upon this world by the hand of Ichika, and you kept this a secret from those you claim to be your allies."

He looks around at the others for just a moment, before turning back to nil and tilting his head. "Let's hear it, then. How many perished under your neglectful watch?"

"... You're turning the conversation against me. I think any of us can see that. Those millions were in the past... We have to focus on the millions at risk depending on what you do. I told you my past, now talk."

Izumi opens her eyes and focuses more closely upon Nil's reveal

Another god huh, interesting. She thinks, separate from the telepathy

"...Apologies. But I have no reason to divulge my plan to a mass murderer." His smirk only widens. "Izumi, Please escort our guests out of the castle, if you would be so kind."

"I divulged my past to another world conqueror type. If you're going to spend your time critiquing my past instead of following your word, then we all know how this has to end."

Cain wants to figure out a way to try and resolve this without the two sides fighting. He doesn’t want another Colonel or McBullet situation on his hands again. He wonders if there is anything else this man wants.

"I divulged my past to another world conqueror type. If you're going to spend your time critiquing my past instead of following your word, then we all know how this has to end."
"My patience with people like you is thin, Nil. I suggest you leave. I will not take aggressive action towards you or your group so long as you don't interfere."

He then notes Cain's expression. "Although, you may stay. I'd like to speak with you a bit more."

"Cain. You know he's going to manipulate you if he throws just me out of the room, right?"

Izumi sighs, and then nods, as her reach extended to everyone in the room due to <I Guneas>

"<Gatom>." The spell activates attempting to send Dura, Mobius, and Nil out of the castle as requested, and to a random country somewhere within Asia, leaving only Cain behind.

"Cain. You know he's going to manipulate you if he throws just me out of the room, right?"
"Like you manipulated Cain?" Zephyr looks down on Nil. "Lying to him, hiding the blood on your hands... I am many things, Nil. My hands are no cleaner than yours. The world of demons is one full of war and bloodshed. But I am no liar. Now, begone from my castle."

These are the last things that Nil, Dura, and Mobius hear from Zephyr before being banished.

“I know, but I don’t exactly want yet another fight on our hands. We got stronger, and this world might not survive us all fighting each other. I want to know if there is more room for discussion. What else do you want exactly?”

Sensing the sudden movement of the rest of my group, I sign mentally. I beam another message to Nil.

I ******* told you people.

"... You did. I guess we have to prepare for what happens next."

Nil shifts to Caster, watching the castle from outside.

“I know, but I don’t exactly want yet another fight on our hands. We got stronger, and this world might not survive us all fighting each other. I want to know if there is more room for discussion. What else do you want exactly?”
“Well, here’s the thing. Theres always someone or other whos gonna try and take over the world, and I think it’s better if we have it under one administration in order to better protect it against threats, and there are no better administrators than us. The fact is, our goal is the same, to prevent as much bloodshed as possible, and we can do that. With good planning, we could unite the entire world without any blood spilled, but we need as many people to help us streamline our plan as possible. Nil whined about the bloodshed, but that’s all he was, a whiner, he didn’t have any ideas or plans in mind. He just wanted to look good, he said so himself. All we really want is to stop all the bloodshed already happening, and we’d like to have your help, it would do a lot for the world.”

It's a good thing I've been using my down-time wisely. I'll be over in a moment.

For the moment, I head south to the landmass, Australia, that Dr. Hope said he was bringing all of the survivors to. After a bit of searching, I find where he was placing them, my appearance causing quite a stir, and notice a variety of body parts, "large" and small, moving them in a particular direction. I motion to the parts while following them.

Cain thinks about this for a moment.

“You talked about Nil a lot, are you going to try and fight him and his group?”

"As I said. I will take no action against anybody unless they attack us first. It's why I fought Amakros. He threatened me to leave the world or he'd kill me. I refused, and so he attacked."

“Honestly, that’s more trouble than it’s worth on so many levels. I hope not. Maybe you could talk to them? Explain what you think about us? It didn’t seem like they had done anything proactive either. Just fough threats. We should do more.”
@HowManyMemes

“My opinions on you...are sadly low. Sorry, but after the last encounters with everyone else that I’m sure one you at least of knows by now, that we had some difficulty with world-conquering maniacs. You’re sounding a lot like The Colonel, wanting to overthrow a Goddess who is currently overlooking us. I’m pretty sure the both of us don’t want to fight, I was thinking of teaming up with you, as we could help better that way. From what I remember, Nil has helped out in restoring the world’s water problem, I am a bit curious, but what have you guys done to help out the planet?”

“Well, you know by now, but I’m the result of Xander essentially sacrificing himself to remove the threat of goblin corruption, something which could have screwed the whole world. His well wishes are mine, I know we started off on the wrong foot, but we’re moving forward, and for all his lip service to that idea, I haven’t heard Nil make one plan as an alternative to ours. We’re trying to help do even more good moving forward. Is that enough?”

"...I like you, Cain." Zephyr gives him a nod of approval. "You're intellectual, and you think before you say things. This evening might turn out alright after all."

He gives a little sigh. perhaps it's one of relief.

"I owe you full answers to those questions. For one, I am aware that the Colonel had the same overarching goal. However, I would like to make it very clear that, were he and I to meet, I would most certainly kill him. Yes, it's true that we were trying to accomplish the same thing. But, consider why he wanted to do this. Look at his actions. Slaughtering innocents, turning them into mindless vampires and ghouls, every action taken with the sole purpose of causing as much pain and suffering as he could, for his own enjoyment. To say nothing of his abhorrent beliefs..." The demon frowns. "To be blunt, that man was a disgrace to my kind.

"As for how we have helped... Well, what Xanna said is true. I will also note that I have only been on this world for a few hours, but beyond Xanna's brave actions, I also aided you in defeating Nameless, did I not? I would hope I was clear about my disgust for his actions."

“...Maybe, but sometimes the roads to good intentions are stained in blood, I believe. I know that you’re trying to resolve the world with as less bloodshed as possible. But, is that really possible? Like Nil said, people are people, they rebel. Uniting every single nation into one will be difficult, and even more with some probably wanting to rebel against you. I like you too, but I believe I never got your name.”

Cain is referring to Zephyr at this, but he would like to know everyone else’s name.

“Nameless was a big threat, a threat which made us all team up and agree in order to stop him. In this nation of yours, will there be freedom? I think you know how much humans like to be free.”

“Well, define freedom. People who don’t break laws should be free in my opinion. Those that do will lose their freedoms. It’s as simple as that. What those laws should be, well, we need people like you to help us decide, it can’t just be all us.”

"I am well aware of the risks. Nil's group was right about that much. People will rebel. It's simply human nature. It's the inherent chaos within them. As a being of chaos myself, I can empathize with that."

He speaks with a sincere tone that Cain hasn't yet heard him take.

"I value freedom above all things. Of course, there has to be order, to balance things and keep the world from descending into anarchy. But I don't intent to enroach upon the individual laws and sovereignty of the world's nations unless I see those laws hurting the people those nations claim to represent. Laws enforcing bigotry, hatred... If you would pardon the comparison, laws that the colonel would have enjoyed."

Cain now feels the instant regret upon not reading America’s history nor their laws. All he really knew was that people in America were somehow free. He takes into consideration what Zephyr said however.

“Like I said earlier, I want all of us to be included in this. The Goddess did choose us for a reason. However, Nil is right, being endowed with powers does not let us choose the rights of humans. It seems that most countries had been fine without us for the time being. Perhaps you should consider bringing them into a meeting and discuss about this new nation of yours.”

“Maybe powers don’t, but intelligence and competence do. You wont find anyone better suited to administration than me. Anyway, you don’t have to agree immediately, just think about it and discuss with the group.

"...Cain, I have a philosophical question for you. If you held the method of making the world a better place, but those in power would tell you not to use it, not to interfere with their own power... would you listen to them? Or would you use that method?"

“I would say it depends on the system and environment. If this was a third-world country that abused its people for their own gains, then I would happily do so. But if it’s another country, one that has stable minds and actually know how to lead, I would listen to them. I consider myself to not be a leader, I have made a lot of mistakes in life. But, I would know when people have used others for their own gain.”

"...Then, Cain." Zephyr extends a hand. "I will ask this of you. Will you help me stop those who abuse their subjects?"

Cain looks at the extended hand for a while, considering the offer. This felt personal to him as his world had been abused by those in powers, and now he held the choice to prevent another world from doing the same.

“....Have you seen the worst of humanity?”

"..." Zephyr looks down, and his hand lowers with him. His expression isn't one of confidence or happiness, but a dark one. "Hundreds of years ago, when I was just a child, I lived with my tribe in a remote mountain range. The ice there was so cold it could kill a man in seconds. It was a harsh, cruel landscape, but we got by. I wasn't a natural-born demon, you see."

Before Cain's eyes, Zephyr changes shape. His horns shift, becomig softer and lighter, turning into white fox ears, and his whip-like tail rapidly thickens, growing white fur and becoming a fox tail.

"When I was born, I was Zephyr Highwind, of the Wind Kitsune Tribe. My mother died when she gave birth to me, and my father left us not long after I was conceived. But I had my older brother, and to me, that was all that mattered. But... THat changed. A group of Humans found our village. We were raided, slaughtered, all because they wanted to harvest our tails for their magic power, and sell our fur to make a quick profit."

His eyes briefly glow red with anger.

"Greed, Genocide, Torture... And do you know who sent that group? The man in charge of the nation in which we lived. I was rendered the last survivor of my kind, because he wanted to line his pockets just a little bit more, get that tiny extra bit of power."

When his tale is done, the demon king's features revert back to his horns and devil tail, and he looks back up at Cain, with a renewed expression of determination in his eyes. "I have seen the deepest pits that humans can sink to, and I want to destroy that evil as much as I can. And while I would certainly enjoy killing those in power who would abuse their people... they'll just be replaced by another, equally oppressive tyrant. That's why I have to unite the world. Why I alone can rule humanity. Because of those unlucky few who have seen the heights they can rise to, and the pits they can fall to, I alone have the power to do so. So, Cain... Will you help me?"
