Star Wars Discussion Thread Canon/Legends- Episode VI Return of the Threadi

Anakin's profile has a ton of 'surpassed all the Jedi before him' statements but do we actually even take that seriously? Like even at the height of his power as Darth Vader he doesn't he reach Yoda/Windu/Palpatine levels right?
Yeah he does. Like, hard-core. OWK show Obi-Wan beats Yoda/Windu/RotS/CW Papa Palps in sheer power. That goes like, a ton more for Vader seeing as he grew in power since the show happened.

Is there statements for that or is it just the feat of whupping Darth Vader for a second time that gives Obi-Wan that scaling?
He's at the peak of his power, and Anakin in RotS was already =<RotS Palpatine in power. Vader since this point had like 3 different statements at 3 different he got stronger before the show, and he got even stronger during it.

huh I thought that Darth Vader never surpassed Palpatine.

I also thought old Ben was stronger tho so I'm lost in these streets

Palpatine gets stronger over time. Like, a LOT stronger over time, so no, Vader was never stronger than Palpatine, because Palpatine also got stronger.

Old Ben is the beneficiary of a billion statements that he got old, weaker, less skilled, and slow.
That the same one that says Kylo beats ESB Luke or is that another book?
Legends should clue you in that it's different lol

Do you know where to find these books online I've been looking for online pdfs and can't find shit

He probably does in Canon, but not in Legends (where even more statements say the opposite).

Vader kills a dude who is Mace's equal like not too long after he gets his suit in Legends.
Are you talking of the statement about Kar Vastor in Jedi Twilight? If so that is a bit sketchy considering sensing a character’s Force connection is not always a reliable wage to gauge what they can actually wield (especially with Vader who now struggles to fulfill his great potential after Mustafar in Legends) and Kar Vastor was only really a match for Windu in a “jungle rules” fight (hand to hand stuff) while amped on a potent Dark Side nexus, but got destroyed in an actual duel despite Windu having been stabbed through the gut by a lightsaber right before.

We have a Legends book, a head-to-head book, stating that Vader defeats Yoda.
Those are stated to be particular insiders’ opinions rather than canonical predeterminations.

As I once described when asked if Legends has more than canon: "Depends. Characters who technically have more like Obi-Wan are much easier than Revan, due to most of their important things being easily accessible. Canon technically has MORE for characters like Qui-Gon, but Legends tends to have a bunch of random sources for shit."

Basically this, yeah lol

He didn't surpass Sidious, but Sidious hasn't stagnated since ROTS.

He has made several different kinds of declarations of power over time.

That is to say, it was Pablo Hidalgo who wrote it. Unless I've missed something.

Every verdict is prefaced as “experts’ picks” and are full of contradictions if you take them too seriously. Similar excerpts like the 2014 UK magazine have Suited Vader as a near equal to TCW Maul. They are opinion statements, no more canonically binding than Game Theory episodes.

Hey Reaper, I'm going to launch the mini CRT with the Paraconsistent thing. When I do that, can you ping @ActuallySpaceMan42 ?

I just rewatched TPM and AotC @Hagane_no_Saiyajin

TPM was definately much better than I remembered, I think the dialogue is far less clunky than I thought, aside from the very creepy vibes I got from the Anakin and Padme scenes lol. I felt so nostalgic watching the Darth Maul fight; hearing Duel of the Fates made me giggle like a child.

My main gripes are: Jar-Jar is definately annoying lol, I think he was fine until the Battle of Naboo, where he just acted like a bum who could have jeopardized everything. I also am not a fan of kid Anakin (no shade to Jake Lyold), his age just made the scenes with Padme feel weird. And a literal child being what helped win the Battle of Naboo is, uh... sorry, George, but that's not it lol.

As for AotC....I changed my mind, this might be the worst film in the Prequels. HOLLYYYY does the dialogue truly sucked here. It feels so clunky and weird, especially the Anakin and Padme romance scenes. Anakin is also such a whiny idiot lmao, I know he is supposed to be very arrogant here, but he felt more like a man-child than a Jedi. It is such a far cry from how he is portrayed in Clone Wars and RotS.

I did, however, enjoy the Jango fight in Kamino, and I wished he had a proper fight with Mace, too. I felt like Dooku needed more screen time, since he was only really present in the film's 2nd half. While I love Christopher Lee, Dooku felt quite wasted as a character. Maybe he should have been introduced early in the film, maybe have a conversation between him and Padme in the Senate, or have him actually discuss why he fell to the Dark Side to Yoda.

My overall ranting so far:
TPM: 7.5
AotC: 5.5

Are there any calcs of Obi wan and Mace catching force lightning? I think it could yield some good results

Does force lightning have a set speed?

I think this can be passed off as just an innocent childhood crush, it doesn't hurt the story and I'm sure a lot of us have had crushes on celebrities older than us when we were Anakin's age
