Soul manipulation isn't just a single hax but an umbrella of different hax.
For example resisting soul absorption doesn't necessarily protect you from soul erasure or soul damage.
Genjutsu is simply a specific type of soul manipulation. Basically soul mind/illusion manip because of how these things work in Naruto.
So it doesn't make you resist all soul manip. It just makes you resist this kind of soul manip.

No how is genjutsu soul manip not how it controls the soul. Like what is the CRT that got it accepted on the site, the argument etc.

The argument for Genjutsu being Soul Manipulation
Simply stems from its ability to manipulate the Chakra of the opponent, which is equivalent, or at least deeply connected, to their soul.
To put it simply, Genjutsu usually controls the Chakra flow of the opponent in order to manipulate their senses.
As far as Masked is aware, Genjutsu has always been accepted to manipulate Chakra, due to the explanations given in the series.
If Masked recalls correctly, Chakra Manipulation was accepted to have these properties in this thread:

Ngl I'm more interested in world lore, things like distances to villages, sizes of stuff etc. I don't think we're going to get anything crazy for powerscaling since Boruto is still carried by Shippuden when it comes to CV.

Kage level lost its meaning a couple of times but id argue it lost its meaning the most when The Boruto Era Kage got a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, MASSIVEEEE, POWERCLIFF UPSCALE, just to still be oneshotted by the first main villian of part 1 of boruto

I mean, not really? I think it's pretty clear he's holding back by a lot given Jigen was turning perfect susanoos into juice with casual attacks and yet Sasukes bareass neck was taking the hits from someone so much stronger that Jigens body was actively nuking itself.
Also the trillion times difference is a little overblown. Naruto and Sasuke don't scale to the value but significantly above it. At worst the currently accepted scaling chain goes
Naruto/Sasuke >~ Fused Momoshiki > base Momoshiki >~ Kaguya > Toneri > 59 Zettatons.
But even for Toneri that's just the bare minimum he scales to because we have a planet level statement for him. For all we know he could scale way above that value and the gaps between characters could be way larger.

Its just a quantifiable thing, its kind of hard to downscale off a downscaled value
Keep in mind, toneris planet level is Ultra Casual passive standing still so the upscales values are basically that
Kind of like Juubito and The Six paths tier characters
Bijuu Sage mode naruto and 1 eyed juubidara are probably like 1 million fold on this wiki or maybe even 100 million but i dont actually think 1 eyed pre god tree juubidara is meant to be that much stronger

This is a general thing in terms of powerscaling. A 9-A character can be over 50,000x stronger than a 9-B character but I doubt anyone would think "small building level" is that much above "wall level" .
The gaps just tend to be a lot bigger than people might intuitively think.
