Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Ain't Silver still basically in the same Sonic/Shadow ballpark due to statements and later showings? IDK if he still slightly downscales, however.
He can compete with them and be in their tier, however he is still weaker and loses to them at the end of the day.

More Sonic Sega crossover stuff, possibly. Puyo Puyo and Sonic are celebrating their 35th anniversaries together.

And Metal Sonic repeatedly gets jumped in IDW
Omega & Blaze blasting him during Urban Warfare:

Yeah, that's about the usual consensus. What about speed? Does he somewhat downscale from them still?

I see him as equal to them, he just doesn't have many feats to confidently stay equal for long.
I don't know how many fans subscribe to this but I believe one of the main contributing factors why Silver is kinda "meh" in terms of overall global appeal and always underestimated in various circles (aside from not being allowed to have leading role in a major console/PC game after 06) is he got dork-a-fied for awhile now making him into this adorable cinnamon roll or gives naive younger brother energy which combined with being labelled the "potential man" for nearly two decades essentially means many don't take him seriously, he is a "who?" side character for normies, Sega consistently tease they've got something planned for Silver on a yearly basis but we know it's nothing more than a teaser and overall compared to the coolness of Sonic or the maturity of Shadow, Silver is kinda a "trust me bro" character when Sega insists he is on their level yet doesn't give him the limelight in a major game post-06 and eventually after repeated years of this, Silver seemly only holds his own or wins against Sonic and/or Shadow in fan animations now (after his debut almost killing Sonic in 06).

Sure he gets epic moments in the comics and now he gets to the fight Time Eater in SSS but seriously is that enough for a character that was initially intended to be a MC on equal standing with Sonic and Shadow in terms of exposure, agency and overall popluarity?

I'm not a Silver fan, so I can't comment if his dorkiness actually enhances his character or not.

Being a Blaze fan, is self enforced pain tho.

He outright lost so to say he is equal is flat out incorrect.

Key word is somewhat. But he is not competing with a 100%, going all out top speed Sonic and Shadow.

The Eclipse Canon is funny bc while the cast should be superior to it (at least in terms of potency and durability anyways), it's always portrayed as this end-all-be-all weapon that'll destroy everyone, undoubtably a fan favorite anti-feat

Even Shadow The Hedgehog had it destroy the Black Comet instead of Shadow destroying it himself, but I can see that as Shadow wanting to use it for closure and to put the past behind him.

Yeah that's made even funnier by Eggman casually power cliffing it without any Chaos Emeralds with the Final Egg Blaster to a gargantuan extent. Yet still the Eclipse Canon is treated as a big deal lol.

That's because mainstream media doesn't remember a weapon that appeared in a single GBA game

They release a Battle remake where it's confirmed the blaster only destroys planets. /j
being extremely generous they'll even let it destroy a planet, it'll be just strong enough to destroy a house. Just like how the 06 remake will have Solaris become the slightly above average three dimensional being who's only a god in title and can only consume planets over a thousand years, and his lasers are actually just mountain-ending. Also the Rush remake will make it so that the Chaos and Sol emeralds are just merging planets together, not dimensions. Also the Eclipse Canon solos everyone and the whole thing about "chaos is power, power enriched by the heart" was only said cause Tikal was dumb and the Sonic cast doesn't even use 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of it

While we're at it, let's rewrite every game for little to no reason that surely won't annoy old fans despite us trying to appeal to their nostalgia all the time and forcibly reference past games 24/7. We'll also have an arc for the moon where it apologizes for not being consistently destroyed.

Losing doesn't exactly mean one is inferior to another. We get constant statements of Sonic and Shadow being equal, yet they can get one over one one another. It isn't a black and white situation.

I think he's still outright slower than Sonic and Shadow in terms of sheer movement speed despite potentially being close to the same ballpark at his peak. Even then I don't think he's going against them all out. Reactions wise he's still competing, but may still downscale.

I think Silver is really cool and love him as a character. I personally don't subscribe to cinnamon roll Silver as it seems too infantilizing for my taste compared to what we see when he IS on-screen. Like what people did to Papyrus in the early Undertale era. It's essentially the same thing. I just look at Silver fans funny when they believe Silver is the strongest in the base cast and slander other characters just because they're scorned and upset that THEY don't get the same amount of treatment. Not saying all Silver fans do this, but the loud ones do and the loud ones are often the most heard and it has its affect on the ecosystem sometimes, which is unfortunate. Like, instead of building each other up and making our community an accepting place that praises franchise-wide success, it's just constant slander or misinformation and I mainly see this from Silver fans a lot of the time.

I can see him being faster when in the air probably, but that's just headcanon. Now I'm imagining a cool Sonic Heroes-type team with Sonic on Speed, Shadow on Power, and Silver on Flight.

I find it shocking how Silver dodged 06 stigma. He is kinda posterboy of 2006 yet he never was hated in fandom like Infinite.

Mephiles also escaped stigma too. For all the complains about 06, he rarely gets shit on. Good for him?

I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS SHIT FOR SO LONG, BRO.

People LOVE Mephiles despite him being in a bad game (a game that's a permanent stain on the franchise), but hate Infinite for way less. The hypocrisy is real with "fans" of the franchise.

Nah people just dont like that Infinite is a *****, thats fair lmao

But Im surprised no one complains that Memphis is Crystal Meth Shadow. Youd think hed get it somewhat.

I disagree, tbh. I feel like the Infinite hate is a little forced. Not to say he isn't flawed or he was written perfectly, but he was written pretty fine. It's just the overall story didn't do the character justice.

It is a bit, yeah.

Im mostly just bothered cause, if those story leaks are true, then Sonic Team might have rewritten Infinite's story late in production. This might have made them not like him and thus he was thrown to rejected pile.

Then again, he still does get stuff unlike Boom or Archie so he prolly isnt hated that much lol

I still see brainlets slander Infinite like Mephiles isn't in the same boat. Realistically, the overall story is why people have a lower opinion of Infinite. It doesn't do Infinite as a concept justice, despite Infinite doing what a typical Sonic villain does. The story itself just doesn't utilize Infinite in a way that livens him up.

Also Infinite should've been a Shadow villain.

I guess since Mephiles is more superficially seen as competent and Infinite is seen as superficially cowardly and lame is the reason.

Silver and Mephiles didn't dodge shit. They were super hated when 06 came out. They are only liked NOW.

The gameplay is bleh, but the story of Sonic 06 is great, and the stages are some of the most well elaborated, designed, grand, and beautiful. Not to mention it has one of the best ost's. The characterization is some of the best too. Mephiles has an amazing va.

I don't think Infinite and Mephiles are comparable, but I do think Infinite is cool too.

Sonic 06's story is cool in concept but holy shit is saying "it lacked in execution" a massive understatement

Let's be real, Shadow was THE protag of that story LMAO

Shadow's conclusion to his character and everything prior was executed beautifully, yeah. Sonic was great too, tho unlike Shadow, Sonic's more of an open book, so unlike with Shadow his story doesn't have as much narrative drive and is written around the other two. He's great tho. Silver is at his best in this game. He's also excellent. I think people underrated how badass Silver was in that game because of the Shadow meme.

And then Post 06 stuff happened and basically erased all that development in exchange for status quo.

Shadow my goat would NEVER regress like that 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥‼️‼️
