DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Your info's out of date, I'm afraid. 99% of a Pokemon's development comes from their training, not through evolution.

Ethan for example has himself a fully evolved Starter Pokemon by around the 4th Gym. From there, he beats the remaining 4 Gym Leaders, defeats Ho-Oh, trains until he can solo the Elite 4, solos the Elite Four, defeats the Champion, beats 8 more Gyms and defeats Mewtwo all without his Typlosion evolving any further. And that's assuming he doesn't touch the Battle Frontier or a single rematch. All these steps are not minor upgrades for one another, they're just the main steps on a whole journey. Pokemon are not stronger because they "evolve more".

In Digimon evolution and training are one and the same, so, same thing ig

Digimon evolution isn't really the transformation to another stage, they passively grow, grow further via their emotions, constantly rewriting their Data structure to get stronger, faster, etc, with training as well

"Evolution" emcompasses all the ways a Digimon can grow, no matter what a Digimon does, living in of itself will make them "evolve" further, usually to stronger states, like, Zero-Maru while he was an Adult level, constantly soloed Perfect stages simply cuz Taichi trained him very well, bare in mind... Perfect stages are near godlike to Adult stages... and Ultimate Digimon are so ridiculous in terms of power that their mere existence treatens to destroy the Digital world and they are said to be Gods in the perspective of lower stages... and Zero-Maru casually defeats them even after evolving to just Perfect level all because Taichi trained him well enough

I know of the gap you were talking and the way Pokemon grow, Ash's Pikachu is a good example, it is just that... that has that up to 11 + many, MANY other factors to their "evolution"

How little respect for Pokemon must you have... to think they can't do that too?

And Yggdrasil wasn't actively trying to erase everybody, he basically spread a disease that was causing it.

Pokemon's evolution is static compared to Digimon's, and that's just a fact.

Really, when has Pokemon ever been able to resist Arceus' power, even just the avatars? Digimon via evolution could contend with Yggdrasil 7D6 and Omegamon X in X-Evolution even managed to affect True Yggdrasil with All-Delete.

But hey, you'll continue to deny facts because that's just how you are; how you're not banned yet is beyond me.

You haven't managed to retain a single thing I've said so far, so all I'll bother with mentioning is that Rei literally defeated Arceus.
 
If we're going to talk about evolutions from a thematic standpoint, Digimon does mog in that category. A lot of the time evolution in Pokémon is treated like a push, showing not just a growth in power but also the bond between mon and trainer, but Digimon does the same thing. But what really gives it that push in my opinion is how these Digimon grow in response to an aspect of their partner. Take for example Tai and Agumon, when they recieved the Crest of Courage. At first Tai believes courage to just mean forgetting about fear entirely and charging in recklessly, and while that does provide a massive power boost, it only brought ruin in the form of SkullGreymon. However, after learning true courage is still acknowledging one's own fear but still fighting on, it provides an even greater boost that strengthens the connection between himself and Agumon.

I just think this is real thought provoking and teaches a more powerful lesson.

Yeah? Like... Pokemon can't just... will themselves to resist something, or absorb the very essence of the oponent to gain all of their powers and change their whole anatomy to reflect that, or revive themselves back to life and gain a new form that unleashes all their inner potential just because they said "i want to live" really hard

Or evolve so much that they can stand against their God's powers and say "no" to it, to the point it not only doesn't affect them, but becomes part of them

I am not lacking respect, not at all... it is just that you didn't showed me anything that says otherwise, so i just have to assume they can't as i haven't been shown otherwise

No, he was actively trying to erase 99% of all Digimon, that just triggered a spread of the X-Antibody/X-Particles cuz Digimon developed it in order to survive

2) Only Ragyo was doing outrageous stuff, others didnt do anything of sort

I mean I think Pokémon, despite Nintendo's best efforts, is better than Digimon, but I ain't making it a four page ordeal that stopped being about scaling two pages ago.

Yeah? And i said that imo, Digimon concept of evolution just pushes harder to power creep than Pokemon's... the topic wasn't about power ups, but about "evolution" in both series
