I underestimated how valid the Gaim scaling for Geats is ngl. I thought it was 50/50 but after finally reading it for myself.
They are directly comparing their levels of godhood at being relative. Mela's desire for killing gods is based solely on how strong they are and they're even implying that Geats is even more impressive.

How so?
The very same chapter confirms Mela can perceive their mythologies at every single point in time.
He travels (back) in time to see a weaker version of Godhood Geats in episode 45 despite already knowing how his mythology concludes.
He knows everything about Gaim and Geats up to that point and the battle against Saver happens many years before it.
This makes this at the very least relative

At that time, Earth was on the brink of disaster due to the encroachment of the Helheim Forest. After countless events, a young man and a girl ate a fruit called the Golden Fruit , awakening to godhood. Then they left Earth together with the Helheim Forest.

Mela not fighting Gaim doesn't matter. He would know all about the Saver battle and how he one shotted a guy that viewed the infinite realms as fiction and became one with it.
He knew about Gaim when Woz didn't.
He knew about Geats's ascension before it even canonically happened.

Arrogant despite having killed "Countless gods" in very effective and successful ways? The first four chapters of the Novel walks through with you at how accurate he is at his job.

The novel doesn't give any Strong evidence on how they compare other than there both Gods
Mela found Geats Title more impressive that doesn't translate to "He's comparable or superior to Gaim" hell rereading it doesn't equate to it in any fashion just hearing his origins and how he became one got his attention to meet Geats

See this was my thought process too.
The problem here is that a vast majority of Mela's dialogue (Episode 45, This Novel, the Movie) regarding gods is on how powerful they are.
The stronger they are = The more likely he is to want to murder them.
Almost everything that comes out of this dude's mouth is powerscaling intrigue with Deities. I thought it was just a coincidence from the movie but he's doing the exact same thing here in the novel too.
