Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Time Eater is a creature whose baseline instinct is to cause death and destruction. It already WANTS that without a personality, that is it's very nature. That's what it inherently desires.

You mean to tell me that isn't pure evil? What, did it have a tea party with Cream and Cheese before it erased them or something?
it is more of "it is a force, more than a being who thinks and acts", is a tornado evil?obviosly no, but it is still destructive.
Time Eater is destructive, but it is on his own nature, it does not act or think, it just does what he has to do

Tbh I think it already was, but yeah Speed Sim confirms that when left to its own devices that it wants to erase everything.
Pretty sure it's also implied by Espio saying it has a heart of pure darkness, or something along those lines

That being said, this also makes its origin interesting and makes Eggman's ability to enhance it even more impressive. Because the English version portrays the Time Eater as a being that has always existed (with the JP version apparently saying it was just born, iirc.) So if it always wanted destruction, Eggman's enhancements were what truly gave it the ability to devour and erase the universe
Gonna need to make a video called "The truth about Time Eater" and why Time Eater is an innocent soul corrupted by Dr. Eggman /silly

I think time eater still thinks, just like an animal does. Plus if an entity’s only job was to spread evil and kill stuff it’s pretty much pure evil even without having a big brain

This analogy fails because Time Eater is a conscious being. A tornado doesn't have a mind.

Proof it doesn't think?

Having an animalistic intelligence doesn't negate the possibility of thought.

Also Eggman didnt create it. He enhanced what it already had and made it capable of acting out on what it desired already.

Time Eater was somehow born from...nothing?from darkness itself?

didn't Eggman say something like, he just does things without plan or control?

i was reffering to another thing but sure.

Pretty sure Eggman meant that without it under his control, it’ll be free to do what it wants without any Eggman battle plan, just destroy stuff for the love of the game

Smth interesting about Solaris I thought of, yk how Eggman says Solaris' body, having absorbed various dimensions, can no longer be attacked half heartedly? For the first phase, I've seen pretty much every non charged attack just not work on Solaris' light shells when it's the respective hedgehog's turn to attack. You'll occasionally see players spam Shadows spears yet they all do nothing and the only way to deal damage WAS the charged moves. So if half hearted attacks don't work on the shells and charged attacks do, along with the light shells being LIGHT shells and were revealed to not be anchoring Solaris,,,

Idk it would probably give extra justification along with everything else

Didn't you see the description of his backstory? He's the future child of Shadow and Tikal.

If Dodonpa ( full name Danganrondonpa ) is really testing the warp rings in CrossWorlds, then maybe the post-launch stuff is representing things brought into the races after the testing is complete.

Also since Sonic CD notes that Sonic is warping into new dimensions by time travelling wouldn't that make every dimension a timeline or something?

Maybe I worded that wrong, perhaps every dimension is a timeframe of its own in the timeline?

I dunno how much we use the US CD manual. If the JP manual says nothing about it, I'd be hesitant to acknowledge it. But "new dimensions" could just be referring to the temporal dimensions due to Sonic traveling through time. It doesn't need to be interpreted as universes.

I was about to say Sunset Heights and Chaos Island could be used as further proof of Time Eater's range since Eggman wouldn't know of them, but then again I feel like writers could have enough wiggle room. Like they could say that Eggman learned of the Starfall Island's existence because he stumbled across it with Time Eater, and he erased it because he assumed he lost there.
