Star Wars Discussion Thread Canon/Legends- Episode VI Return of the Threadi

Well, I'm in the final stretch of the Lego Skywalker saga.

Basically, all that's left is to complete 100% of the Episodes (the normal Lego levels).

Honestly, this is quite tedious because of the challenges in each level. Some are really annoying, making me have to repeat the level more than once.
If you were skilled at the game you wouldn't be repeating levels!

Man, I hate how Star Wars isn't consistent.

It's one thing for WOG not to be consistent. Because, obviously, besides, for example, Matt Martin said the following:
No random statements by any creators are canononical in and of themselves. George has contradicted himself many times so nothing is "true" until it's told in officially storytelling.
Okay, so generally we just use it as a support tool.

But they aren't consistent, even in guides and encyclopedias.

Honestly, it's been a pain to know if Maul got stronger or weaker in Rebels. There's so much WOG and non-WOG content talking about both things.

It's also a bit annoying to find out about old Obi-Wan. I mean, from what I've gathered so far, there's more about him getting weaker, however, the 2017 junior novel of ANH says the opposite. In that novel, there's a part where Vader thinks Obi-Wan got weaker, but he was wrong. But here's the thing, that 2017 novel is a re-edition of the junior novel Legends of ANH. It's a canon re-edition (it's sold together with the junior novel of episodes 7 and 8).

Oh, I was thinking about the "legends relics." These re-editions of books and guides (re-editions, not re-releases) are intended to update the content and make it more canonical, right? But like, how can we be sure that something was kept (not removed) because they thought it fit the new canon, or was it just kept because the original version had it and they simply copied the information without checking if it matched the canon first?

For example

[Star Wars & Lightsabers] - A Guide To Weapons of The Force (2018) ---> re-editions of the 2010 guide including canon content (bleeding and sequel films)
A generation later, Obi-Wan Kenobi would face Darth Vader onceagain. While Vader wanted revenge, Obi-Wan was focused onbuying time for his friends-including Luke Skywalker. Their duelwas careful and measured compared to their previous meeting.Obi-Wan's movements were slowed by age and lack of practice;Darth Vader-recalling the grievous injuries he suffered duringtheir last encounter-fought his former Master with apprehension, while his cybernetic body reduced his actions. Ultimately, Obi-Wan deliberately dropped his defenses, and Darth Vader cut through him,but the Jedi Master mysteriously vanished into the Force.
First of all, this entire text is identical to the 2010 version.

However, there's a problem with what's in bold. In the new canon, especially in ANH, this simply isn't true (like, damn, at this point Vader was already jumping on kaiju and punching them in the face).

(without mentioning the fact that old Obi-Wan is out of practice, considering Rebels and some WOGs about Obi-Wan vs. Maul)

So how can we be sure that this text being identical to the Legends version is intentional or not? Was it something they thought would fit the new canon, or just something they repeated from the original without much thought?

-

And going back to old Obi-Wan and old Maul.

The novel Rise of Skywalker talks about how getting older is related to having a stronger connection to the Force. Which kind of messes up all the statements about Maul and Obi-Wan getting weaker.

But of course, this only applies if we consider this statement to be without exception. If there's a single Jedi/Sith who grew weaker with age and didn't neglect training, then the statement may or may not involve old Obi-Wan and old Maul.

I think I'm going to become a totally biased, pro-Vader guy and just collect things that can wank him.

Are there any tier 6 feats in canon other than the emergences?
There is one more from the High Republic that could be tier 6 (it probably won't be accepted as tier 6).

Other tier 6 feats will probably only be found in the High Republic or Vader.

Vader has many uncalculated feats.

Does immortality (type 2) from the dark side also fit into type 8?
8: Reliant Immortality: The character gets benefited by 1 or more other types of Immortality as long as a certain being, object, place, and/or concept or more may grant them those benefits, losing them otherwise.

Cat.

looks like Acolyte Jedi dont scale to HR Jedi, at least those from phase 1-3 top tiers and we have a specific comparison for acolyte vs prequel jedi.

so it does give us a general idea where everyone is on the general hierarchy

""Then Panshard stepped backward and raised both hands in the air, curved lightsaber brilliant red against the black sky. The ground shook, forcing Luke to check his balance. Cracks appeared, shooting across the surface of the moon, each fracture emerging from the jagged line cut by Komat’s lightsaber. Then Panshard swung his arms down, and the ground erupted, tons of crystal carbon rising up into the air, held aloft by the will of the dead Sith Lord. Luke looked up and braced himself, ready to deflect the rubble with the Force as best he could. The mass of debris was enormous, and it was going to not only crush him but fall on a large area around him, making it impossible to dive out of the way. Then the ground erupted again. Luke fell and rolled over; he saw KB-68 fall, the disarmed droid having kept well away from the duel. In front of him, Exim Panshard staggered backward, the vast mass of crystal once held aloft now crashing onto the ground around him as he lost control"

At this, Lord Vader actually roared, his anger vocalized, the mechanisms of his suit amplifying his rage until his voice became nothing but an electronic scream. He thrust out a hand, lifting the shaman’s body with what Goth now knew was the Force, the impossible mystical power of the Jedi that he despised so much. Vader raised his arm, and the shaman’s ruined body floated into the air, the woman’s voice now a scream of pure terror, the sound straight out of a nightmare. Around the market square, the ancient buildings began to creak again, then their timber frames began to shatter, exploding with such force that huge splinters shot out across the square in all directions, one sharp fragment grazing the cheek of Goth’s mask with enough energy to knock him to the ground. He cried out in surprise, rolled on the cobbles, and pushed himself to his feet—just in time to duck as another, much larger piece flew past him and impaled one of his Royal Guards. The man fell forward, then stopped, his body held aloft by the huge timber stake protruding from his chest. Goth looked around, head bowed, as all of Adera shook, the entire town being crushed by some massive, invisible fist. All the while, through the pouring rain and the sound of a thousand collapsing buildings, Goth could hear Vader’s scream, a mechanical, primal cry of anguish, of misery, of pain. Goth yelled to his remaining men, waving them on toward the shuttle, and they ran for it, two of them dragging their impaled comrade. Goth skirted Vader and the shaman and raced down the narrow street, waving both arms furiously to signal the shuttle crew to ready the ship. At once, there came a blue glow from the rear of the craft as the engines were engaged for a fast takeoff, and the ramp descended. Goth reached it first and waved his guards aboard, then ducked down behind the ramp as one of the small local trading craft parked nearby suddenly buckled around the middle, as if a giant invisible fist had grabbed it and squeezed. It shifted, pushed away from the shuttle, and exploded. Goth ducked at the sudden flash of light and heat, then heard the same happening on the other side of the spaceport. He turned to see another trading vessel crushed like a child’s toy. Then the Imperial shuttle itself began to rock on its landing gear. Realizing the danger, Goth swung himself around the ramp and started to run up it, only to be thrown off his feet by the jolt of a huge explosion. The spaceport was lit in fiery yellow and orange as a third craft, something larger and parked farther out, exploded. The shock wave blew part of the burning quadjumper wreckage back toward the shuttle, and a tide of blazing fuel spilled out from underneath it and surged toward the shuttle ramp. Goth pushed himself to his feet, then fell again as the shuttle listed, the starboard landing gear collapsing, threatening to topple the ship onto its side. And then his stomach flipped as Goth found himself—and the shuttle— suddenly lifted away from the danger, the craft restored to level. He got to his feet, but despite the sounds of chaos around him, he couldn’t hear the shuttle’s own engines. He turned and looked down. That was when he saw him. Standing in the chaos, surrounded by flames that billowed and swirled around him in odd shapes, like he was protected by an invisible barrier, the entire town of Adera behind him, was Lord Vader. He was looking up at the shuttle, one arm raised as he used the Force to move the shuttle to safety. It was the last thing Goth saw before the darkness closed in around him and everything went as black as Vader’s armor

Another cool thing.

And where in the first link does it talk about the type of kyber crystal changing the power/temperature/power of a lightsaber?

But I would suggest looking at each individual link for each type of crystal

It's funny how weak canon characters are compared to their legends counterparts. I mean canon Luke Skywalker is at best Multi-Continental while legend Luke Skywalker is fricking Low Complex Multiversal.

I think it was simply because the authors had more freedom to do what they wanted? Like, there were some rules and stuff, but I think back then there wasn't as much concern for consistency.

There were things like canon levels (g-canon, c-canon, etc.) and characters that were drastically different, like Grievous, who was represented in very different ways without much importance given to consistency.

Just a guess on my part.

It's the same thing for the lightsaber. The lightsaber generates its own AP derived from heat. Enough heat to cut through almost anything in the verse. So if a guy who isn't as strong as a Jedi wielded it, he would have that minimum level of power a lightsaber usually has.

Then it would be "x, y with a lightsaber, the lightsaber can negate durability through heat manipulation."
2/3rds of the way done with this: https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Hagane_no_Saiyajin/The_AP_of_a_lightsaber

I only commented that the heat from a lightsaber can be converted into AP, since heat is a form of energy.

It's not very usable within the universe since heat hax negates the durability of basically anything, and the few things that resist it in the universe are an indestructible metal (beskar) and a metal that absorbs energy (cortosis).

I don't know why you used those values; the accepted value for lightsaber heat is 28,000°C. So that's all that can be used.

Unless you can find a higher temperature value through calculations.

In any case, it won't be much.

I heard that even the heat from the Sun's core only generates 8-A.
