One Piece General Discussion: Elbaph

5070km tall tree is ridiculous
I mean, it's probably the biggest island in the One Piece world. But 5,070,000 meters is 1014x times taller than the mountains on Drum Island and 507x taller than the upper white sea height, so I could see why.

Hating
As someone who has tried calcing this several times, the island is actually gargantuan. Like even lower end calcs have it high hundreds to thousands of kilometers
Aren't the Sky Islands only 20-30 km in the air? Wouldn't some of them have run into Elbaph at some point if it were that tall? (I haven't gotten to Elbaph yet, so I could be missing something).

1. It's 10km*
2. There aren't just an infinite amount of sky islands, they're only in certain spots and they don't move around so they'd never meet. Heck we've followed the whole entire grand line and we've seen what, 1 so far?
3. You need to get to Elbaph. Yes because it's a solid arc but that island is big as hell.
4-anybody else. Alabasta alone is thousands of kilometers wide. Elbaph has the same situation, it's just that the tree is similar in height to the island's width.

But yeah, sky islands aren't a given at all locations.

Oh, ok.

I thought Skypeia did move around?

I guess that's fair.

I will... eventually.

Ok.

Fair enough, I guess.

Nope, stagnant island. The sea phenomenon that lets you reach the sky, the Knock-Up Stream, happens in different locations, but Skypiea is 1 specific place.
We know this because the land part of Skypiea, Upper Yard, used to be connected to Jaya hundreds of years prior to the series, and it was shot into the sky by the knock-up stream. Hundreds of years later, it's in the exact same place, next to Jaya, just far in the sky.

If I remember correctly there are clouds (and sea clouds) beneath the lower tree branches, and assuming the clouds reach half way using the lowest 7 km cloud height, the tree would be far higher than 300/500 km, but this is based on alot of assumption based size scaling, using stated sizes and comparisons makes it way bigger than that
"Spoiler warning"
I mean even Harold (should be as big as Loki (67 m) is tiny and fits inside the small houses in elbaph, the old/mountain guy (Jarul?) is also similar size to loki, making the small houses consistently be bigger than them but we just gotta wait and see tho

Oh, I mixed up Skypeia and the Knock-Up Stream! (Also, Oda, Viz Media, couldn't you have come up with a better name for that phenomenon)?

this just made me realize knock up stream sounds like an innuendo
and innuendo sounds like nintendo, meaning Mario used OP as a reference

I don't think I'm a hater for being slightly skeptical about a tree being 25% longer than Australia is wide.

I'm not doubting the calc itself but as someone who has drove across Australia multiple times, the idea it's narratively consistent for the tree to be that big isn't something we'll really know until the arc is over.

No the hater part was a joke don't mind me

Oda is the fastest One Piece character confirmed (I realized it more so means One Piece itself is its fastest speed, gg 🙉)

When are we allowed to talk about the new chapters in this thread, is it 1 week after release?

Would anyone have a problem with me making a CRT about adding Shanks' feat of breaking the slave chains like Rayleigh did in 1167 to his beyond advanced armament haki justification?
Go ahead, but I don't know which feat you mean + i'm pretty sure that ability's getting taken off soon

Looked more like he just slashed it

Also that's a super old chapter like a few weeks so you don't needa spoiler that

whether he used his sword or not shouldn’t really matter IMO, it’s a feat indicative of that particular usage of haki.

No it's one thing to remove exploding collars that blow up on attempt and another thing to just break some chains. These aren't the same. All Shanks did was just cut some iron chains, that isn't an issue. And the fact that we visibly see his chains didn't explode shows that it isn't the same

The chains not exploding makes it more impressive, silly Rayleigh, why didn't he make the bombs not explode with his haki??
