Soul Calibur General Discussion Thread

Not much as far as I can remember, though looking for any new speed feats or statements about Astral Chaos would be appreciated.
Regards to speed, given we cant give light speed or laser status to beams, cant we use evil seed distance it travelled upwards and how far it reached to attribute the speed of their energy they shoot at you? Like the spin off made canon by SC6 or Night Terror energy projection

Characters have issues only very early with bullets and they surpass it, like Mitsurugi, Ivy has a casual hypersonic speed too so it would be not that out of the ordinary

I'm pretty sure we have Ivy at Supersonic currently, though the Evil Seed might be worth looking into.

Oh neat so there is a discussion thread.

I've been working on a revamp for Soul Edge, been a bit slow working on it due to irl stuff and doing things on the wiki for other verses I'm way more into tho.
In SC6 Soul Charge can push the opponent away even from some distance, if it counts for anything

Given they say the pillar of light was actually energy would it even count as light manip?

Also in SC6 Nightmare can strike the ground and affect the opponent from a distance

And shouldnt weapons have a different page if worthy enough?

"Soul Wave: Releases a large omnidirectional burst of energy that absorbs the souls of all those hit by it."

Does anyone know where this comes from, started working on my Soul Edge profile revamp again and I have no idea where this is from? Like I know the attack it's talking about but where does it show or say it automatically steals souls from anyone hit by it? As far as I can tell Soul Edge can only take the souls of those it kills first instead of outright ripping out souls from the living.

It was either that or the SC3 opening that I thought it was from about but both are kinda vauge about it, SC5 shows Nightmare unleashing a red energy wave onto the army around him and then it cuts to him fighting Raphael in another location without showing what exactly happens to the soldiers, and SC3 shows him channeling blue energy around himself before nuking the army around him but again we don't see what happens to the soldiers.

Later I'm gonna go skimming through the storymode cutscenes to see if they mention anything about the armies he faced.

You mean fighting Seigfried in SC5, also idk what else it can really be from those instances really outside most likely soul stealing, the fact it takes a while wont really make it good for mid combat

Yeah I think the implication is meant to be soul stealing but the way they show it off makes it hard to tell if it's an instant / gradual soul steal or if the energy waves kill the soldiers first and then Soul Edge / Nightmare consumes their souls afterwards. Either way like you said doesn't make it super good in the middle of combat.

Was it not also from his like finisher in SC4?

Nothing in his SC4 moveset is shown to take souls. Soul Wave's explosion just buffs him so he can guard break easier, and his finisher is also just a normal explosion with nothing related to souls happening there. Even double checked the SC wiki to see if we just took it from there (like we just took Nightmare and Siegfriend combined to beat Abyss when canonically Abyss doesn't even show up in SC3) but uh nope, nothing about Soul Wave ripping out souls upon contact there either. Given how these profiles haven't really been updated since like 2018 it's likely just a holdover of when we tended to just add things to profile on the basis of "trust me bro".

I wonder how the peeps whom handled this verse dud such a lackluster job in some regards, no LS, no speed, no stamina, no intelligence and so on have nothing there for any justification on top of having characters unknown of 1/2 of the characters they need to beat as a duo

Like I said the last time anyone had a proper look at the verse was around 2018 and our standards for profiles back then were... very low to put it lightly so a lot of the pages are so bad currently it's insane. Like Soul Edge straight up has less than half of it's abilities listed atm, and it's not even like it's obscure abilities you gotta dig deep for it's missing things like duplication that happens in one of the endings for SC3.

Thats the issue with many fighting game profiles here, people dont look deeper into their materials at all or come up with headcanons against why this or that isnt accepted
