Honestly, looking at the history pages and seeing how Goku used to be rated YEARS ago. It's damn interesting he used to be considered only like MHS to Relativistic, up to maybe a few times FTL in speed. We've come a long way for better or for worse.

DBS having the 1-2 combo of Goku and Beerus nearly destroying the universe and a new flashback of Frieza destroying planet Vegeta that gets results so high that at bare minimum his final form to roughly star level via upscaling really changed the game.

I see this a lot, but this argument sucks because Flashes are only like wall level when they're not actively using the Speed Force. Their strength varies depending on how fast they go.
And he was only off guard because he was too busy gloating and taunting Barry, because he's got personal beef with him.
On the other hand, Thawne has no reason to toy around with someone like Goku Black, someone he has no knowledge of, and standardly, his go to move against such an opponent is just to immediately go for the kill.

Plus the only way the living paradox thing was removed was when Barry grounds him back to the timeline using the entire speed force, which would be some form of space-time/causality manipulation. A move that required Barry to trick and lure Thawne by taking advantage of his hatred.
Goku Black just doesn't have such a hax, nor would he even the knowledge on how to trick Thawne into such a trap to begin with, whereas Thawne could simply just find a way to physically remove the ring and that's it.

Although in general, acceleration is kinda ignored a lot in VS. How long does Omni-Man need to accelerate to reach top speeds? Or Sonic. Or like most other fast ones.
