DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

That has to be one of the saddest things I’ve read regarding death battle. In no way should a character losing in a fanfiction show be the worst day of your life. My favorite character is probably going to lose in a week, but I’m not going to let that bother me.
I was in middle school at the time. All the progress I had made with my sanity had shattered like glass, replaced only by an internal conflict between Death Battle being right and Pokemon being the greatest monster franchise of all time. To this day it's the reason I have like 20 Pokemon projects going on this site at all times.

I think you genuinely need some sort of professional help.

Tragic Anime Backstories have gotten very interesting over the last decade.

Ts so tuff twin

Roshi VS Jiraiya and Beerus VS Galaxia where their opponent beats the shit out of them the whole time or Frieza VS Megatron where Megatron got all the cool moments.
Huh?
Roshi had his moment's,Beerus kept up and had the best lines in it

Megatron outshining Frieza ain't all bad because Megatron is that guy plus one of the highlights of the fight was Frieza Tk'ing the planet to win the beam struggle

Legit it's not serious at all

It's crazy how single webshow got peeps like this
Not just about the results but overall other shit

"Oh they didn't handle this well, oh they didn't mention this or that about x character ,they should've done this more or handle the character or whatever inane shit this fanbase crys about.

Death Battle warrant constructive criticism like all things but half the time I'm just thinking to myself idk how they keep doing hobby this long when others just would just dip

Pokemon VS Digimon was the worst day of my life. And I said "Goku should've won", not "they should make more GvSes until Goku wins". Even in episodes where the DB character wins, the other character hogs the spotlight the whole time like in Roshi VS Jiraiya and Beerus VS Galaxia where their opponent beats the shit out of them the whole time or Frieza VS Megatron where Megatron got all the cool moments.
Admittedly Megatron was kinda destroying Frieza before he went Golden
I feel like Megatron lost HARD. Like yeah, he had aura, I guess but he pretty much did as much damage to Cybertron as Frieza did, even though his whole goal was to save his world lol. Him slicing Frieza in half felt like a small pity win for him

My flawless GOAT Discord would never. He lost while managing to save EVERYPONY

At least he died trying
left freeza seething and injured from it
Could've been worse look at black adam

Kinda funny considering Dinosaurus is actually (loosely) based on the Hulk but instead of rage/anger, his human transforms via boredom iirc.

Personally I think Kibagami Genjuro is a really good MU for Yujiro but getting Samurai Shodown on death battle is not an easy task.

Otherwise, Akuma would be neat... But let's be real, Akuma vs Raoh is overdue already, I am NOT seeing this MU getting cucкed again.
Akuma having a good fight on DB for once would be cool.

I feel he can have cool fight in 3d this time unlike before where it was obviously rushed as hell to the common eye.

Uhh you guys complain that Kratos no sold Asura's shit right? Frieza basically did that. He no sold his own attack being reflected back at him and basically never struggled because he didnt get serious until antimatter.

For DBZ treatment, I guess it sort of sucks cause like there are (at least) 3 MUs people say they shouldnt have won, so at the same time their ok number of wins isnt as impressive.

Pokemon VS Digimon was the worst day of my life.
Honestly, I envy you. I'd preffer the worst day of my life just having an episode of db that I didn't like. Because my actual worst day in life was when my country got fuсking invaded.

This is not me trying to cockmeasure trauma or something but to say that the day when your favorite character lost on death battle is the worst thing that happened to you means that either you barely have any life to begin with or you are actually insane.

Both are true

What country is that?

You do realize that you’re feeding into a self fulfilling cycle of Goku Ls, right? Lose, beg for W’s because you’re convinced he will do it this time, lose again, people make fun of you for continuing to pick fights you’ll just lose again, get angry at that and beg for a W, and repeat.

I know this is going to fall on deaf ears since you’ve been seething about this and pokemon vs digimon for literal years, but I figured I’d try explaining this to you. And the fact of the matter is, Dragonball and its fanbase get treated with kiddy gloves. Even with episodes they win there will be a speech about how awesome Dragonball is within the episode. They do not do these pity speeches for any other fanbase.
Ben and Chad love Dragon Ball so they have bias yes, but the researchers have pretty consistent behavior the other direction that cancels it out.

Agree on the cycle tho. Goku ate three L's, two of which were quite nasty. GvS2 more or less gave the death battle fandom justification to shit on dragon ball fans, and dragon balls fans' own behavior more or less meant they were asking for it.

I think GvS3 mostly broke the cycle where most Dragon Ball fans were happy with the episode and I saw a lot of Death Battle fans do the 'cmon do something' meme.

Omnidock was such a generation fumble I fear we may be back in that cycle.

At least Broly beat Hulk 😈

I for sure wanted a sequence of Megatron in his jet form having a dog fight with Frieza, that would've been sick as shit

They actually kinda hate DB lol

Nah. Ben and Chad openly adore it. At worst a select few researchers have sour grapes about criticism they get for their scaling and let that translate into a bias against fans, which in turn translates to 'King Piccolo struggled to destroy a city', imo its not really against the series.

Uhh, yes.

Dragon Ball grandfathered modern powerscaling/battle boarding, and imo its clear they have massive respect torwards the franchise for its sheer effect on pop culture as a whole
Which is why they really only paid respect to DBZA and only made GvS 2 to make fun of the fans and why they downplayed SSJ4 GT Goku to Mountain Level and 2.4x FTL. Dragon Ball is their most mishandled franchise and I hate seeing people rewrite history.

Freeza went to his final form when said attack was sent back at him
Difference is structure and how it's portrayed

Neither Megatron nor Freeza took any damage from each other and both were even before golden came out even then Megatron was stalemating Golden Frieza death ball before the latter TK'ing the planet and Freeza dominance was brief with the eye beam and kill after nearly dying to the antimatter.

Kratos vs Asura is more offensive on this because Asura had to rush through his forms to have any sort of advantage only for Kratos who proceed to shut him down Making him look more of a joke. Asura got done in BY HIS OWN MOVE FROM THE FIRST BOSS FIGHT!

Megatron left freeza injured and seething n vowing genocide on the rest of Megatron race.

Asura couldn't even get a mere scratch on Kratos ONCE or even had him needing to heal in the fight.

Kratos and Asura aren’t really from games that would do that… anymore. They’re from settings that are more health bar-focused, so we know they’re obviously doing damage to each other, it’s just not all showing up on their body.

I mean GvS2 was pretty mean spirited towards Dragon Ball fans, so much so they also butchered Superman's character, and GvS1's scaling was atrocious even for its time, but that was a long ass time ago. GvS3 exists.

I agree they mishandle Dragon Ball, but I also think they mishandle a lot of other franchises as well, some just as bad, and after a while, no matter how true what you're saying is, its been like ten years, gotta break the cycle and move on.

We got our Broly W. In the end, we won.

Baldur had Kratos Bloodied in their first fight and Thor as well with kratos using his healing abilities for both fights so not a good excuse on that especially when they still Asura damaged models in the fight anytime kratos did shit to him
