DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Bro.. what the **** is even going on in this community.

Why is it that I'm seeing people throwing around racist jokes? To the point where an announcement had to be made.

Even here there was a racist comment that got deleted, not sure who sent it

I think the laugh sounding more raspy and distorted in Spanish works for it's own reasons, but I do have to give Chiplock credit where it's due for the venom in his 'grow up' speech.

Only problem - It's Sean Chiplock...
Though I think both performances were great, I actually did prefer Sean's take on Mahito for the fight. Dunno, but I think the Spanish VA stayed too locked in a "crazed frenzy" for Mahito and even in the calmer moments he sounded a bit agressive, while Sean rotated between that and moments of soft spoken sadism and snide mockery that make Mahito the hateable ***** he is, really making stand out the moments when Mahito loses it.

So, now we have:

Kratos - Lore Man
Asura - Feats Man
Jagganoth - Stalemate Man

Who else?

So uh, what chance does Miles have against Deku, if you don't use some wonky comic scaling of course.
Deku has no counter to getting blasted by Uncle Aaron's beats.

Being comparable to Cole 'Living Nuke' Macgrath and having a wider array of hax will do that
Is he comparable? Outside of his individual super attacks I can't recall Delsin ever doing anything on Cole's level.

Just wanna say that respect should be given to MHA and RWBY (when Ruby vs Maka happens), being a professional hater is actual cringe especially when it's overblown and stayed it's welcome. Like we all get it, the series is far from perfect and is riddled with flaws though particularly with the 2nd half. But as others have said the 1st half of the story was genuinely good and encaptivating premise with genuinely likeable cast of characters with one of the most wholesome mentor-successor dynamics in modern shonen.

Horikoshi is such god tier artist to the point where not even the TV series adaption can't adapt his magical touch with the pen. Just wanna put this out for those engaged with these franchises. No ones forcing you to watch em but please be respectful. I'm making this since the ineviable resurfacing of cringe Deku slander jokes which blown way out of proportion and even untrue, from people that are to media illiterate to the point where even Death Battle of all things does better.

I'm excited for this, apparently reason now was due to production changes probably due to way modern era works, which for pacing yeah definitely tanks however we should be grateful the series managed to survive the RT fallout and is regaining it's legs.

The issue is with MHA it was legitimately pretty solid, if not a bit safe, up to the Gentle Criminal Arc. Then it goes bad, bad, so bad that I wonder if Horikoshi was wrangled by editors and managers and the second he was let loose he decided to just write garbage. I invested time into it, would hope it pays off. In terms of artistry I straight up consider him one of the best Manga artists of all time (And I'm not being sarcastic).

RWBY is this but even worse. Seasons 1-3 were tolerable due to the potential they had and Monty Oum's animation work. The story itself was always just mediocre with promsies of something greater, and it got so bad it killed the show.

While I agree with all of this, there's one very crucial problem.

One cannot let up on agendaposting for any reason whatsoever. We must maintain the agenda until the day we die or it will all have been for nothing.

Actively, passionately hating on RWBY in 2025 is just silly and a waste of time. The series is practically in hospice, it can't hurt you anymore, dawg. There was a time when I hated RWBY, too (and a time before then when I loved it). So you know what I did? I stopped watching it and moved on with my life lmao.

RWBY isn't actively ruining other verses, so I can ignore its existence.

MHA never got as bad as RWBY, it just fell through the same trap so many other Shonen fall into sadly.

Thinking about that, Dai no Daiboken was a shonen that in fact avoided the Shonen final arc trap and actually ended excellently. Any possible matchups for Dai?

Holy crap, Dai no Daibouken mentioned!

I've heard some people bring up Kid Goku a couple of times, I think Ben actually talked about it, but don't know the details.

I binged the show as a vtuber (Takane Lui) was doing a watchalong across several months. Every saturday morning I'd wake up and prepare to watch the next 5 episodes.

Yeah... I've been wondering for a while, but why people have it in so hard for Izuku? I mean, granted I've seen only the first season of MHA so far, but he seemed pretty harmless? Even if you aren't fan of the dorky, insecure MC who stands his ground (I am, so I did like Izuku a lot. And him trying to save Bakugo because "he needed help" was no joke my favorite scene of the season).

You watched the 2020 anime then? Pretty neat.

And refreshing really. It was obnoxious that when it was airing all what fans did was complain how it wasn't the 91 series =/
