DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Say - fun little idea: Take you favourite verse for scaling purposes, and give me a MU where the least likely genre of commission music associated with that verse would work wonders.

For example: obviously, you know I can't shut up about Xeno JRPGs, but outside of XCX, I don't exactly associate the series with rap numbers (Black Tar is kinda this, but not outright). I'm thinking more rap cypher material / rappers like OmegaSparx, shofu or Rustage. And so, an example of a Xeno JRPG MU that would fit a rap cover would be:

Testament Voyager (Erich Weber, Xenosaga) vs Black Konoha (Snake of Clearing Eyes, Mekakucity Actors)

Mekakucity actors in general has this 'punk' / hip-hop aesthetic, and Dark Konoha (SocE) being this biblical antithesis of that is something rappers have flirted with a lot, actually. That, and the Testament theme is right there.

So, I think I have something that could fit this, funnily enough in my example it's also gonna be about rap

The only music associations that I have with Crash Bandicoot is the in-game OST in PS1 games and the acapella in Twinsanity buuuut if we'll have Crash vs Donkey Kong on death battle I could very easily see a rap track being done for the episode, for obvious reasons

I don't know how big the Japanese-speaking audience for Death Battle is, tbh. But its size doesn't matter either, as in general a character's popularity isn't ranked by the number of the fans of such character interested in Death Battle but by its cultural impact in the world, which I can confirm that Godzilla is one of the most important pop cultural icons from Japan. Also, powerscalers are just a minority in a lot of fandoms from what I've seen through the years, and I wouldn't blame the Japanese for not being interested in that overhyped, shitty show either.

I understand y'all are salty about the result, but I wouldn't put it at absolute dead last simply because compared to KratosAsura... at least it animates well.

Also I think there is some wiggle room as the first episode back from the drought. I'd rather that than nothing at all, even if the better episodes we've gotten since means that's not as much an excuse.

Honestly, I'm indifferent. Might bank on a Megathread, in the event we have to edit posts for missing images or typos (I'd like to see people utilize the archive trick at some point. It'd make looking back on threads for information a lot easier).
 
DB season ranking ig, let's go.

1. Bowser vs Eggman - 9.5/10
2. Shigaraki vs Mahito - 9/10
3. Simon vs Kyle - 8/10
4. Spawn vs Ghost Rider - 8/10
5. Chief vs Doomguy - 8/10
6. Kratos vs Asura - 7.5/10
7. Among Us vs Fall Guys - 7/10
8. Giorno vs Joker - 7/10
9. Omni-Man vs Bardock - 5/10

Not bad this season so far. Only one ep I dislike.

Surprised by how high Shiggy vs Mahito ranked for me, despite me not caring for the MU that much. Giorno vs Joker I wanted to rank higher, but the ep overall felt a little lackluster. Simon vs Kyle ended up getting lowered in score for me due to how weird the pacing was for the first half of the fight, that and I feel Kyle's story analysis being somewhat lackluster.

Other than some weird scaling bits, Bowser vs Eggman is almost a perfect episode for me.
