DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Is Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann the biggest combatant ever featured on Death Battle? It's gotta be up there. (Art link)

Galactus?
Yeah it's probably Galactus since he can freely enter Overspace which puts him on equal footing with the multiversal version of Eternity. Though I guess you could also say that Darkseid ties with him since both can be bigger than the multiverse.

I know only me and @koopa3144 care about Wile VS Tom, but here's an actual doubt of mine: Would Tom even be able to permanently kill Wile?

Toon Physiology allows toons to effortlessly come back from being erased from existence and having their spirit destroyed. In Space Jam: A New Legacy, Bugs Bunny even manages to come back after performing a movement that deletes himself from existence on an informational level (Considering that DB now takes High-Godly regen on account, that's a pretty big wincon). Toons also have a big list of immortality types on their bag, as pointed by the page

Yeah, its Wile's regen is one of the main things keeping me from 100% betting on Tom. I feel like there's a non-zero chance that DB just uses Wile's own regen feats without scaling it to other toons, but regardless, he has pretty blatant Low-Godly regen. The best argument I can think of is Tom maybe doing something with his fate hax or better 4th stuff to work around it but Wile can prob resist those.

MIght explain to me Tom's fate hax?

They also used the abilities of Simon's friends to justify his victory thorugh they using the same power system so....

How Hulk gonna be when Godzilla blasts him with his ultimate mega final atomic breathe blast and he just absorbs it all.

Can Hulk absorb being torn apart on a causal level?

Composite Godzilla isn't gonna win this strength contest, but his atomic breath as Godzilla Ultima is less a beam of radiation and more a particle beam and it ignores durability.

Weird that people are still stuck with "Just have higher AP and then you win" when Simon has busted regen.

Like, does 26D Alien X have any way to bypass it? Just saying because of the recent Ben vs Simon debates.

Rewatching the episode, and man, I'm really bummed out about them leaving out the Ion stuff. Like I get why they did it, and WL is generally better in just everything. But I feel the Ion arc is one of the most essential arcs in explaining Kyle as a character and his journey throughout his Post-Crisis run. The issue with Kyle finally meeting his dad is probably one of my favourite single issues ever.

And if I'm being honest, as far as writing goes, I enjoyed Ion arc a lot more than the WL arc. Not to say his WL arc was bad, I liked it overall, but something about it didn't quite hit the same.
My main issue of the episode is the cosmic crap doesn't feel "grand". Simon and Kyle escalated too quickly for me to care about the transcending universes' stuff

Like Ion, Arc Gurren, and Super Galaxy would be cool for a planet-tier fight before they reach multiversal.

The fight feels like it's missing a middle third act. It's a shame because the actual first and last thirds are spectacular and make the episode god tier alone, just wished it was a 6 minute fight that matched the length of Will of the Drill.

Yeah exactly, it's too straight to the point and ends up missing other key elements of both characters. It just really brings down the episode the more I watch it.

Hulk is probably losing unless they drink him up super high with First Firmanent chains.

Anyone else here been listening to Spiral of Emotion on repeat since the episode dropped yesterday? I think I've found a song for this season that surpasses Game Over for my favorite song this season of Death Battle.

Seriously, it's REALLY damn catchy and energetic.
I also do it because character I like won against verse Im zzz about nowadays in a pseudo-upset lol

Arc gurren and Super galaxy are already universal

My review: I liked it, although it's not as special to me as it is to others... Sometimes they went overboard with the fanservice (Yoko's outfit in the final battle is pure fanservice... And it looked terrible on her) sometimes they rushed the pace too much (like in the onsen chapter) and I couldn't care less about the boss monsters (that is, the pre-timeskip villains with the exception of the Spiral King) or most of the secondary characters (characters like the children, Rossiu, or three of the black siblings only mattered to me from the final arc, while others simply never mattered to me, and I hate the guy obsessed with shooting at the slightest opportunity)... Overall it's very good, but I can't put it above my favorite series
(although, it's better than Jujutsu Kaisen, to which I did the same thing of rushing I read it between a death battle fight and the one where the character was going to be shown[the Suki a vs Shigaraki one] )

1.Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan
2. Jujutsu Kaisen (manga)
Hey welcome to the club of actually finding GL kinda mid:

Weird that people are still stuck with "Just have higher AP and then you win" when Simon has busted regen.

Replace regen with Speed, and this is more or less the logic behind Mumkhar winning vs Zoda (read my custom post-fight analysis workshop for more details), despite Zoda AP stomping on paper. Still, I'm not 100% sure why 'winning with a weaker AP' stunlocks some people, given we've had this discussion before.

cc @Peter_"Quicksilver"_Maximoff - where'd you get to with that MU you were going to post? Almost forgot to re-ask given we're all on the post SimonKyle hangover.

I did have talk elsewhere that if Torrian isnt doing RubyMaka, he might do ShulkLightning since he likes that MU.

I still disavow Shulk vs Lightning over his better MUs like Stocke, but we're running out of time to rip the Xeno bandage off on this show, so I'd very reluctantly bite the bullet on it should it be revealed. Although if that does become the Torian MU, this'd come curtesy of a lecture from yours truly given that 3H Dmitri was the dress rehearsal for 'my own comfort characters', which... well...

You know the rest

While I'm sure that the reason they don't exist anymore is because of copyright reasons I do wish that we still had the scenes at the end of each character's section where they say some iconic line.
I have an inactive thread for that, actually:

Yeah, leaving out Ion was a bad idea. It's Kyle's "middle tier" form, so it would've been perfect to use against Arc and Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann.

My idea is that when Simon grabs back the Gurren from Kyle in space, he launches into the moon which creates an explosion of Spiral Energy revealing Arc-Gurren Lagann. He tears a hole in space-time then, but they don't enter yet. Instead Simon once again overwhelms Arc-Gurren Lagann forcing Simon to go SGGL. He yells "My drill is my will!" which Kyle says, "Will huh? Thanks for the tip." and ascends to Ion, saying "Let me show what will can do." He time travels back to the initial skirmish and is about to footstomp Simon just for SGGL's multi-directional cannons to target Ion across space and time, forcing Ion to go back to the present battle. At this point it shows Kyle surrounded by the Basking Whale of Willpower pushing Simon into the hole in space-time. At this point Simon says "This is nothing! My drill will pierce the heavens!" and transforms to TTGL and the rest is all the same.

Yall think too deep at times
No no, it all makes sense. Because Tom is going to get a youtube series aimed at toddlers that means that said videos will be unable to show any serious gore or violence. That means that Tom is immune to anything that Wile E. can do to damage him.

Trust me, it's all a part of the plan. Have faith.
