Sonic is like Goku, they don't GAF about seeing through the eyes of others

To a outsider perspective sonic seems like a jerk, I mean he lives in the moment and loves having fun adventuring, fighting and Values freedom above all else. He kinds just does whatever he wants

I'd imagine the Third Eye grants a subjective reality responding to its user's inner desires, given none of the previous users possessed a similar body; being large, imposing, and powerful is one of Gomah's innermost desires, and the Eye, appropriately, transformed him upon being activated.

Vegeta sees the Super Sonic forms and wants to know how long they've been ripping off Super Saiyan and wants royalties, leading to a massive court battle instead of a physical battle.

I'll say it, Super Sonic does pretty well for itself despite being in Super Saiyan's shadow. It's got a nice little narrative about being a reward for Sonic choosing to live his life the way he does, has some symbolizing about shooting stars and hope and achieving the impossible. It doesn't compare to the sheer masterclass that was Super Saiyan's build up, introducing, presentation, (hell the sheer story telling after Super Saiyan is achieved alone blows anything the Super Sonic form has got narratively), but what it does to stakes and power scaling aside, I quite like Super Sonic.

Then MUI blows Hyper Sonic out of the water by a country mile and it's not even close, as a transformation.

Sonic finally does something first compared to Dragon Ball but then Dragon Ball comes along with its own mystical white colored transformation and breaks the internet. Tough draw.

Why hardly anyone mentions that Gokus biggest weakness is the pocket game, thats where he goes full ***** sometimes and how his opponents land the heavy, heavy shots but thats why got UI and it fix Gokus bad habbit. Thats why I love Ultra instinct! For one, I love that Goku gets wreckless here and there, but for battleboarding matches it aint good and its a cool thing he got UI for it ... so everyone is satisfied: Guys like me who loves base Goku fighting style and UI is for people who dont like Gokus wreckless style.

Anyway ... Goku using kicks to get a feeling of the distance (thats how he sent Vegeta flying first fight, and Goku even confirming in the 2. Daima episode that he uses kicks for that distance game), grappling positioning, throws and sweeps are martial art skills ... heck, the first Vegeta alone had a cool mixture of kenpo karate and boxing. Everytime someone said that Goku is an idiot for using a low/open guard in fights, doesnt realize thats what true Kenpo Karatekas prefer since it allows his hands to move more freely and makes it easier to land accurate shots.

Z alone has so many martial arts skills, you gotta be a troll for stating things like "uhm no martial arts bro". The only thing Dragonball has never displayed as much as other stuff is the ground game which makes sense since its boring as hell, flying counters leverage/angles which is grapplings bread and butter, and then theres KI which makes it utter worthless.

Back then when I was more active I didnt care at all since its fiction and wasnt a fan of sticking solely to visuals, but Dragonball was/is a special case - DBs H2H takes were/are as brain dead as it gets ... I had already figured that out before I even read or watched Dragon Ball, lol.

Tbf one thing I think the super form does better than super saiyan is how it doesn’t fall into the classic shonen trope of eventually being powercreeped or being trivialised.

Sonic’s been around for 30 years and even now the Super forms are still treated like the top dogs in every game and constantly shown to be in their own league of power to the base cast. Being able to go crazy with the powerscaling of the superforms while having a (relative to them) grounded base cast and making it so that they usually can’t access the forms all the time for one reason or another then makes the form actually feel powerful and special even after all this time. Scrapping the concept of hyper forms in the series was a better decision in the long term imo since then you’d have to balance those different power levels likely leading to the super forms becoming more irrelevant.

Compare that to super saiyan which had all this buildup and hype for its reveal, making it the quintessential transformation in the eyes of most, only for it to be powercrept by a shit ton of new forms just makes it so super saiyan doesn’t carry that feeling of power it once had.

I agree Super Sonic has more staying power, but that in turn means the stakes usually disappear whenever it's busted out. It's Power Rangers level formulaic at times.

Whereas Super Saiyan has never really been a narrative black hole for tension.

Super Saiyan was just another path of power for Goku to hone and explore. I agree it being as easy as it is to get nowadays does make it feel less special.

The Super Saiyan arms race the saiyans had in the Cell Saga managed to not only maintain tension, but quite literally introduce another form that's arguably as good narratively in Super Saiyan 2.

Super Saiyan really only quickened the power creep Dragon Ball already had.

Alex, I'm 99.99% sure that Ben was telling a joke. It's nothing to take seriously.

Besides, it's not like it's some big secret that Super Sonic was inspired off of Super Saiyan. If anything: multiple characters and aspects of the Sonic series were inspired by Dragon Ball, either through direct confirmation or simple guess work, which I don't think is a bad thing and just goes to show how universally influential Dragon Ball is.

Hyper Sonic is multiple colors, not white, the white thing is fanon (and a big downgrade at that)

Hyper Sonic and Ultra Instinct are not analogous. If anything, Hyper Sonic's Dragon Ball counterpart is Super Saiyan Blue—a variation of the original super form further empowered by god-like power and energy.

And, in that regard, Super Saiyan Blue blows Hyper Sonic out of the water.

But, like, not only was Hyper Sonic introduced twenty-one years before Super Saiyan Blue, but also the form only appears once. Super Saiyan Blue was a narrative escalation; Hyper Sonic was a bonus reward for completionists and was intended to be expanded upon or furthered up on. Apples to oranges.

No lmfao, they feel reasonably analogous considering how often I see the fandoms compare the two as Super Saiyan and Super Sonic are compared. Whether it's accurate or not idgaf, it does happen again lot.

And Hyper Sonic being that much older kind of helps further my point.

Never said they had anything in common or that they are as similar as Super Saiyan and Super Sonic. I said they are compared by the fandoms a lot in a similar way to Super Saiyan and Super Sonic.

I was making a comment on the two more frequent comparisons I see made, never spoke about them being accurate, that was your extrapolation.

If you find it obvious or the comparison hollow, then hooray I guess, no need to put words in my mouth.

Being honest here... at most i see them compared is in fan fights since MUI is Goku's peak and Hyper is Sonic's, which i also equally see for any char that fights either of them, i never saw any REAL comparisons made

Here you access that Sonic did "something" first compared to Dragon Ball, referring to Hyper Sonic, then you proceeded to say what made it similar to MUI to say that Sonic "did it first", that being them being "mystical white colored" forms. Therefore, you factually did compare both as if they were similar enough to be "a thing Sonic did first", ergo, you were indirectly saying the comparisons were accurate as you did the same comparison you were referring to yourself as a point, using those 2 forms cuz they were the "same case" as Super Sonic and Super Saiyan, else you using specifically Hyper Sonic, and make the assertion of comparing it to MUI as "Something Sonic did first" would make no sense, leaving your point completely illogical

Using the phrase 'something Sonic did' doesn't all imply directly or indirectly that I think any comparisons are correct, I was quite literally just alluding to the thing that does get compared. I have quite literally clarified what I mean and you still refuse to listen


I was talking under the context of the two being compared, which I've seen them be, for the last fcking time I don't really care if the comparisons are accurate or not.

This was incredibly dishonest, even for you.

(I'm not going to bother engaging with someone so perpetually dishonest, so I'm just not gonna respond to it any more. It's been years, the behavior has stayed the same, so I'm done)
