DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

So I did watch the Bowser vs Eggman fight and idk if the reasoning/result is accurate, but I do know Metal Sonic is the definitive MVP of that battle. Very fun battle. Probably my favorite so far for this season.

I'm not very excited for Among Us vs Fall Guys though.
 
Among Us vs Fall Guys at best should've been a match 4 years ago when they were actually popular games. Both of them been pretty irrelevant for a while now and nobody asked for this lol.

I don't really get the decision there. So many good matchups the time could've went towards.

Even if the animation ends up being super good I'm just gonna be salty it was spent making a meme matchup instead of something with more substance.

People act like they didnt do MUs past their prime, Giorno vs Joker had nothing new for either series lately and has the least ammount of views out of all eps this season despite being a jojo episode and in case Smash Bros helped in mainstream appeal, have a persona character involved too

If you are to look up some of their modern episodes in the last seasons, many of them would have been better done early in death battle life

Let alone Cole vs Alex was voted by people to do it despite being way past due and that was a serious fight
 
Also might as well comment this too, as i had a talk with an imbecile on discord some time ago, using a popular character or series or even both by its own doesnt give you automatically big juicy views

Like thinking Korra vs Storm is gonna sell like crazy just cuz it has a marvel and avatar character, not even bringing up the fact that one was legitimately Ben dream MU not a fan request, among other issues

The youtube algorithm wont help much even if they suggest it to all people on the planet, they wont be interested in it, i know i didnt care of red vs blue or deku vs asta enough to watch it or give it more then a single watch, even if they were popular or talked around

Bruh if you have seen the general reaction beyond just the very small dedicated community on certain platforms, literally nobody cares nor have I ever heard a single person request such a matchup. Comments on the Youtube think it is just a meme and some reactors were just like "i ain't reacting to that." I don't even believe what you are saying right now, that's how convinced I am nobody really wanted this.

You had spongebob vs aquaman and other joke MUs well beforehand, all of you point out hate on a MU that came after bowser vs eggman and that its past their due or none asked for

You had storm vs korra and cole vs alex before fitting those bills and more others from nearly 200 eps done, you had aang vs traveler as a goal for kickstarter, yet we acting like among us vs fall guys is a waste LMAO

As the comments section pointed out: Eggman was the same guy whose had moon sized bases exploding in his face, getting sucked into a black hole, being smacked around by the likes of Dark Gaia, being at the epicenter of a universe destroying machine's destruction, and he somehow managed to find a way to escape a place where time and space don't exist.

If he can survive all that, he can reasonably survive being launched into a moon sized "?" block.

I would also like to add that they took the wrong lessons from this episode as well. They should’ve walked away with “Ok this episode was unfunny, poorly researched, and failed at the emotional moment we were trying to set up for the season. We will do better next time.”.

But the DB crew walked away with “ Why do you guys hate it so much it was a joke episode! Now we will never do WWE characters in DB again because some crazy fans sent death threats. And that also goes with IRL characters as well.”

I still do this day believe it’s one of the worst episodes they made.

Taking the wrong lesson? Yeah they’re known to do that lmao. Remember that rant that was posted that had shit like “stop saying the animations have jank!” when people pointed out how weird the puppet animation looks and instances like cole “climbing” into the hole in the wall? How about instead of being upset people point it out, you instead work towards not having weird moments in your animations? Realize how no one has said that eggman vs bowser has jank? Because it doesn’t have any.

It doesn't really make sense to me. Powerscaling is more popular than it has ever been before in this era yet death battle episodes seemingly get way less views? Idk. Like Superman VS Goku 3 only getting 5 mil is wild works.

Meanwhile there are like random ah Tiktok and YT powerscaling edit shorts that get 10 mil views on the daily 😅

Well, I just hope death battle can really sustain itself. I honestly have no idea how they are making enough money outside of the fundraiser.

Tbf short content videos are much more popular in this day and age. 20 to 30 min vids would probably kill MFs with short attention spans 💀

Plus I feel views wise, it's pretty decent compare to the recent seasons. Best to give it time.

Yeah modern age seems to prefer short clips, pretty sure that SaitamaPopeye clip is now over 50 mil views, havent checked lol

Altho googling on YT sponsorship ads, they might make a lot? One source saying roughly 20-50 bucks for 1000 views. 1 million in a month could make 20 000, even limited wise 5000+ bucks for a succesfull vid. And then on top of YT's own ad revenue.

Most lilkely because short vids tend to have much more views in general. Nowadays, people rarely stay on the same thing long, the quickly machine gun through content.

I guess you can point to the years of discrediting for that, tho it's also true they aren't the only major channel that does this anymore. Currently what they have going for them the most is presentation
