Well the box was coins, and you hear the 1-Up sound repeatedly for the rest of Bowser's forces. It wouldn't be too hard to imagine that Eggman got a 1-Up too. Sage probably told him to chill with the theme park till they can rebuild Metal.

The idea of Sage joining Bowser's army to secretly plot revenge only for Jr to befriend her is peak.
She joins expecting the army to be chaotic, and it is to a degree, but she is super surprised to find out it runs pretty well and is generally functional, almost loving in a way.
