DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

After a night of sleeping, I just thought of something that I think Death Battle did well. I absolutely loved how they showed the different mentalities of Bowser and Eggman when it comes to handling their armies, where Bowser is shown to be fighting on the front lines alongside them and having several instances where he's actively trying to protect them while fighting Eggman's army.
Meanwhile Eggman's in the back and ordering his troops, allowing them to be destroyed since they're easily expendable due to being robots (exception to this rule being Metal Sonic and Sage, the only two members of his army that he actively praises during the fight) and holding no quarrel in destroying them once he tried to destroy Bowser using the Death Egg.
So it's pretty interesting to see visually that despite being a giant turtle that breathes fire and tries to take over kingdoms, Bowser's shown to be a lot more empathetic and caring to those who serve him then an actual human being like Eggman.

Exactly. It's pretty telling that Bowser sees a moon sized space station firing down down at himself and his first instinct is to get in between it and his troops and his son in order to protect them, really selling the idea that Bowser's army loves him and he loves them back.

When I first saw somebody point that out in the Youtube comments, it changed my perspective on several moments. Yet some people claim they disrespected Eggman when this sort of thing is perfectly in-character. That's gonna be annoying to deal with...
Don't know exact stats, but I've seen a lot of people claim the Fall Guys actually have some solid arguments. Something about a Sword of Light, I think?

A flaw of Death Battle is their inconsistency, and that's true of characterisation as well. Sometimes they get characterisation pretty on point, but damn is there some awful takes driven by their need to have characters either mirror or match each other.
GvS2 was the worst, for example.

Man, this was FUN! I like when Death Battle does something different, especially when using Armies for encounters like these! While I wish it could have been longer, it is more nitpicking, it is nice to see each unit and commander and vehicle getting their own screen time for what they had. In the future, I hope they do more of them!!! Galactic Empire vs the Imperium of Man even!

I dont like how they were more lenient with statements for Bowser and not Eggman. They really dont want to say to public that Super Forms are Immeasurable (and putting equal in info boxes is a copout) but Bowser's statement is a-ok to allow him to get universal hax range. Lame.

Now that the novelty has worn off, I can pick apart some reasonings and not kill the vibe.
Here's the main things they got wrong in terms of HAX going by this site (I'm ignoring AP):

- Eggman and his forces can't answer transmutation
- False: Chaos Energy protects against what is literally called Transmutation, from the Metal Virus. Not only is it layered, but Chaos Energy negates the effects and having all Emeralds intensifies the resistance effects.
- Sage's Cyber Cages/BFR to Cyber Space are countered by Dimensional Travel
- False: Bowser's troops have no answer to Cyber Corruption that erupts after escaping the Cages, nor can they answer being forced into a state of virtual existence that forces you between two states of being.
- Phantom Ruby is only Illusions
- False... Kinda: I don't think you can use simplistic illusions to burn The Resistance to a crisp, nor can an illusion trap you in a dimension cut off from all others. They are fake to Eggman and his posse but very, very real to Bowser.

I'm not harping on the result, just some things that led them to it. They did so much IDW Neo glazing that they can't even get simple resistances right and Sage was kinda fodder by comparison KEK

I'm trying to upgrade the verse out of Tier 6 and starting with a High 6-A upgrade as we speak (yes, a Sonic guy), pray for my success.
Also there just don't seem to be many avid supporters left sticking around. I have beginner knowledge on the verse at best but damn it, I'm trying

I mean, Both Mario and his 'verse to me seems so inconsistent that he and everyone else might as well be composite characters, and in that case I think it makes the most sense to just go with the best he has, rather than try and create some "reasonable" interpretation that tries to balance with his lower showings.

The salt of the Sonic fans on this site is delicious, they deserved to get humbled, nobody actually believes in garbage like 7D, 6D or even just 5D Game Sonic, and I love how Bowser is the first character in Death Battle that actually overpowers and defeats a Sonic character Super Form instead of just outlasting it and finish them off once they are in base. Also lol at the person believing that the Jade Wisp is comparable to Boos, almost all wisps are featless fodders with barely any haxes

I think due to the match being seen as more competitive in the discord due to there being actual Mario supporters, the episode will age better over there as there will be much more push back and debate, whereas I see the mask going off over here over time due to Mario supporters being wiped out by that meteor or something
